A recent study published by French online magazine Revopéra confirms that Mozart is the favorite composer of classical music lovers.

This result is based on a survey of people who live in France and who declare regularly listening to classical music or attending classical concerts.

Each person was asked to rate a series of composers on a scale from 0 to 10. With a average of 8.6/10, Mozart obtains the highest score, ahead of Verdi and Beethoven who rank second and third respectively.

Interesting result: Mozart appeals to all kinds of audiences. Unlike some composers who appear to be much more divisive (Wagner, Vivaldi), Mozart is as appreciated by audience with little classical music background (who only occasionnaly listen to classical music) as he is by “aficionados” (who go to concerts several times a month).
