Le Nozze di Figaro from the Met Opera with Fleming, Bartoli and Terfel

Tonight, The Metropolitan Opera of New York is offering us a real treasure, with a performance of Le Nozze di Figaro filmed in 1998.

The cast includes Cecilia Bartoli as Susanna, Bryn Terfel as Figaro, Renée Fleming as Contessa, Dwayne Croft as Conte and Susanne Mentzer as Cherubino. The show is directed by James Levine.

In the role Susanna, Cecilia Bartoli sings the two arias written for Adriana Ferrarese, for the revival of Le Nozze in Vienna in 1789 : “Al desio di chi t’adora” (K.577) and “Un moto di gioia” (K.579). The role of Susanna was created in 1786 by Nancy Storace, with two different arias (“Venite inginocchiatevi” and “Deh vieni non tardar”).
